I think when I get married I will opt to NOT have a diamond ring. Cause 1) we probably wouldn’t be able to afford that ridiculous shit anyway…

I’ve never liked diamonds anyway. My husband and I never bought an engagement ring or wedding bands. It just seemed like a waste of money.

A few years ago I got engaged…the intervening time from “becoming engaged” to “fiance breaking up with me” was when I became aware of how damn fucked up some things are, such as the diamond trade. At the moment, it isn’t like any sort of long term commitment is going on, but if/when such a thing does happen again, there will be no diamond ring unless by some miracle, the diamond trade has improved.
Plus it’s ridiculously expensive, and I don’t need some piece of jewelry that marks myself as “belonging” to another person. Unless it’s a reciprocal thing, maybe I’d find something for the guy in question to wear. Well, whatever, I really can’t think about things like that.
